BGC recently won a hard fought battle for the implementation of a voice and data network, enterprise IP PBX and wireless Internet access for the Lynden Pindling International Airport currently undergoing extensive expansion and renovation.
The redevelopment aims to update the airport facilities to world-class standards and expand terminal capacity. Once complete, the $409.5 million invested will result in 585,000 square feet of terminal space, a 21% increase, as well as the ability to accommodate 50% more passengers. It will also include the addition of 34 gates, including one capable of handling the Airbus A380. In all, this will provide the airport with a capacity to serve more than 5 million passengers annually. Arguably the highest profile Information Technology project to happen in The Bahamas to date, the awarding of this contract to BGC validates the company’s ability to perform at a world class level.
